I just have to say that I absolutely loved Carol Dweck’s concept of “yet”. It reinforces the belief that learning is a continuous lifelong path, rather than a collection of isolated learning experiences that may or may not be successful. It’s a concept that has the wonderful potential of allowing children hope, and the ability to succeed, but to also care about their learning. I have already seen students who have already given up hope, and stopped caring, possibly because of fatalistic language. Hopefully this change in attitude can help towards a more optimistic youth.
